Ortho Evra & Blood Clotting
Serious or potentially fatal side effects have been reported in patients using the Ortho Evra birth control patch, which has been prescribed to millions of women, according to Ortho-McNeil, the drug's manufacturer. According to one report, the patch increases a woman's risk of developing a blood clot, which could lead to a pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), heart attack or stroke.
There have also been other reports linking the birth control patch to blood clots and other side effects. The Ortho Evra patch has been blamed for the deaths of numerous women, many of whom were young and had no medical history that would indicate that they were at risk for a blood clot.
At Pogust Braslow & Millrood, protecting our clients is our primary goal, and we recognize that drug companies are under an obligation to warn about the known risks of their products. When they fail to do so, they may be held responsible for the injuries or deaths that are the consequence of their inaction.
If you or a loved one has suffered a blood clot or other cardiac incident, or a loved one has died while taking Ortho Evra, you should immediately contact the attorneys at Pogust Braslow & Millrood, where Protecting Consumers Is Our Primary Goal.
